Strengths

□ Intelligent
Kaz is a planner and a schemer to the highest degree, and nothing he does is for no reason. He always has a motive, no matter how big or small the action. He has planned the successful break-in (and subsequent break-out to follow) into his world’s highest security prison and outwitted numerous adults throughout his time as a lieutenant in The Dregs.

□ Resilient
Kaz Brekker started in the lowest of places possible, but rather than allow the trauma to break him, instead he built something stronger and more dangerous from the pieces he had left.

□ Adaptable
He will adjust to any situation quickly and immediately start sorting how his plans may need to change due to new circumstances that have appeared.

Flaws

□ Closed off and aloof
Kaz is not good about recognizing or expressing his own emotions. He compartmentalizes like a pro because he hasn’t allowed himself to feel anything beyond the burning vengeful rage that has driven him for so long. Even those closest to him find his lack of empathy frustrating and upsetting.

□ Ruthless
It's the only way he’s survived as long as he has in The Barrel. He had to make a name for himself to get where he is. Dirtyhands is the nickname he’s earned because there is no job he won’t do, no matter the danger or violence involved.

□ Manipulative
Kaz always tries to have the upper hand in every interaction. Even those closest to him are not immune to his controlling influence at times.

□ Vengeful
The boy can hold a grudge like no other and has no problem biding his time to achieve the goal of ruination to a person. He’s built his entire life in The Barrel around the slowburn, brick by brick, takedown of a man who wronged him and his older brother as a small child.

• Kaz arrives in a flurry of skeletal hands seeking purchase on his body, panic, and falling unconscious once again; later, he attends the ball that Mammon throws, mostly to use as a networking opportunity.

↪ He meets with Jesper and Wylan (separately) and gets a basic rundown of the place; how long they've been here (2 months), where they are (Hell), making demands of Jesper to make the phone work with his gloves. Inej joins his talk with Wylan.
↪ He finds Alina; she warns him of the food being drugged and the "family fued"-ness of the religion this place is based on (she's totally cheeky about it, too).
↪ He meets Noah at Mammon's ball and is both irritated and intrigued by the boy; enough that he gives him his name, at least.
↪ He meets an irritating gnat of a human being Kavinsky at the ball as well.
↪ Ends up Hell married to Inej; the demon officiant makes them kiss to "seal the deal" and it's A Time for Kaz.
↪ He finds Nina at the ball;

• [Event: Survivor Island] Kaz attends the mission on survivor island. He has a terrible time when the ship wrecks, regroups with his people, and focuses first on shelter, then food, and investigating things around the abandoned campsite.

↪ Waverly gives a rundown crashcourse about The Veiled Order on the voyage to the island.
↪ Immediately after the shipwreck, Noah returns his cane to him, checks in, and then they split off to find their respective birds; he goes scouring for useful supplies with Wylan, talks to Jesper about the problem of his lack of connection to his Grisha power, and the very real threat that might present to his lieutenant, and has a moment with Inej.
↪ In an unspoken promise to Jesper, Kaz decides to keep a stray eye on Alina, finding excuse to talk to her when he finds her making salves. Strictly business, of course; one of his (Wylan) has a gash that would do him best not to get infected.
↪ When the boar's head appears in the camp, the irritating guy from the ball appears again~ talking trash about Kaz's questions; talks to Luke as well.
↪ During The Hunt, Kaz flees and does everything he can to survive the trek to the volcano; he sees Jesper get taken, has a chat with Henry, gets offended by Caleb's offer of help to stabilize him through rough terrain on the trip, and finds out Noah is missing from Adam.

• In the aftermath of The Hunt, Kaz finds Jesper on the island and they catch each other up on what's a happened; Jesper tells Kaz about the lack of sleep, the physical torture, the tattoo and the wrongness he's felt since they marked him with it, the faux-faces of the members of the order showing as the captives' friends/family, a ritual/sacrifice. Later on the boat back "home" to the hotel, Kaz confronts Lucifer about his terrible timing for playing savior.

• Eventually back at the hotel, he goes off on Nina for not being there, taking a lot of his frustrations about what happened to Jesper out on an easy target (whom he knows can take it, and throw it back just as easy). He calls Wylan to be sure he knows to keep an eye on Jesper for any strange behavior– he's been told that The Veiled Order can control people when they mark them.

• At Noah's earlier insistence, The Crows and The Ravens have a meeting at The Ravens house in Hellburbia; Kaz makes a terrible impression and no one is surprised by making demands of everyone in the room to not pursue The Veiled Order, no one was a fan. He has a talk with Noah in the kitchen; Noah makes his first offer to help with his haphephobia, which Kaz immediately declines. He also has a quiet moment with Jesper, discussing the Ravens and the disaster he'd created, explaining to Kaz what a succubi is.

• After the meeting with The Ravens, Kaz goes back to his shared room with Inej to process everything; the Ravens, the disaster he'd made, all of the things that had happened on that damn island.

• Noah finds Kaz in the library and makes a peace offering in the form of a homemade danish. He makes the offer, again, to help with the haphephobia and Kaz declines, again. He also annoying, if Kaz says so himself points out all the reasons he's wrong about saying he has cast Noah aside. They also chat about his notes about The Veiled Order.

↪ Later, he texts Jesper to ask if he knows what the hell a 'douche canoe' is~

• "Miss me yet?" text from Noah; He comes over and they discuss more of his findings about the Veiled Order and Noah opens up and tells Kaz about dying. He also makes a third offer to help with Kaz's haphephobia.

• Jesper confronts him for giving his name to Waverly. They also discuss possible next moves against The Veiled Order.

• [Event: Mares] It's time again for the Mares to make their annual journey from Heaven to Earth to Hell and back again to feast on people's dreams; they can induce intense nightmares that get increasingly more real as time goes on. For this year's round, Lucifer et al are suggesting that sinners take up residency in Mercy Health and Rehabilitation Center.
↪ Kaz is shoved into the asylum along with just about everyone else, stripped of all his personal belongings, including his gloves and cane, told it was better for everyone and that they would be "safer" here in the hospital from the nightmare-inducing demon Mares that were coming.
➟ He has (separate) chats with Wei Wuxian and Yennefer about being rounded up like cattle.
➟ Noah witnesses and attacks .
➟ At the end of the first day, he settles in his room and tries to decompress with Inej.
↪ When the Mares strike, things get bad, fast; Kaz hears the voices of his parents whisper their disappointment in who he has become, has more intense than usual drowning nightmares, and there is a twisted, nightmare version of Jordie roaming the halls.
➟ Jesper runs into the nightmare version of Jordie and Kaz stumbles across them; Kaz had managed to get his hands on Frenzy and he drugs the both of them to escape the nightmare. They run from orderlies trying to see what all the ruckus is about and ride out the high together in a random patient room; Kaz ends up telling Jesper the story of how his brother died, and that day that Ketterdam re-birthed the version of him that he is now. Kaz marvels a lot at the way the drugs make it possible for him to tolerate being touched, and finds that the drug makes him chattier than usual, spilling things he might not normally say (but always feels, in some degree or other, even when he doesn't show it) and asking things he'd normally not have the capacity to; When Kaz asks why he stays, even when he treats him the way he does, Jesper kisses him to push the point; Kaz kisses him again, in a purely experimental fashion.
↪ While still on Frenzy, Kaz runs into Noah. He tells him about how Jordie was all he had left when their parents were gone, about him and Jordie both getting sick, Noah tells him about having two sisters; Kaz takes Noah to one of the patient rooms so they can be less in the public view, and Kaz f i n a l l y accepts Noah's multiple-times extended offer to help with his haphephobia. He marvels some more at the ease with which touch comes while under the influence. Kaz picks the lock on the muzzle that the hospital staff had shoved on Noah's face and in a moment of elation, Noah kisses him in a sort of thanks. Noah insists he should go find his wife and kiss her while he can before slipping out of the room.

↪ And on both his own curiosity, and Noah's insistence, Kaz does go to find Inej, perched on the bed in their shared room. And full-on chick-flick kisses her. He also tells her about everything that's happned while under the influence~.

• Once they're back "home" at the hotel, Kaz follows up with Noah and insists that he still wants to start

• At the insistence of Jesper, Kaz allows himself to be dragged to Club Penance, where Noah insists on the three of them taking a shot together– a shot of the drug Bond, which allows users to literally feel everything the other person is feeling. Noah is using this opportunity as something of a backdoor to the beginning of his touch therapy sessions with Kaz. Noah eventually asks Kaz to just show him what it's like– so Noah and Jesper both get a taste of how it feels whenever Kaz is touched.
